Story #20 of 50 days, 50 Stories Campaign
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————
12-year-old Mohammed Arman has been diagnosed with Aplastic anemia. He needs someone who can donate him a stem cell and save his life.
Patients suffering from such blood disorders often get a suitable match from siblings. Unfortunately, Arman’s siblings failed to be a suitable match. Arman’s father, a tailor, struggles to make ends meet and doesn’t have any money for his son’s medical treatment.
“We do not want to give up hope. As time is running out for my son, our hope lies in finding a matched unrelated donor who can donate a life-saving stem cell transplant,” Says Arman’s father emotionally
India’s largest blood stem cell donors’ registry, DATRI, has also started an online campaign to motivate more and more youth to come forward for stem cell donation. DATRI believes that this is an opportune time to encourage youngsters for humanity.
The campaign will help Arman find a match for himself and raise hope for a new life for many others suffering from life-threatening fatal blood disorders like Blood Cancer, Thalassemia, and Leukemia, Aplastic Anaemia Sickle Cell Anaemia, etc.
“Blood stems are the mother cells in the bone marrow that produce the blood and important components like platelets, white blood cells, and red blood cells. They are essential for the survival of the human body.”
